Cancer support groups for children and young people

You are here:

A cancer diagnosis doesn’t just affect you – it affects your whole family, including your child’s siblings. Redkite offers age-specific group programs designed to help children process their experience, connect with peers who understand, and build coping skills, all in a safe and supportive online setting.

Kite for Kids Support Group

For siblings of children with cancer, aged 6–12

If you have a child whose brother or sister has been diagnosed with cancer, Kite for Kids gives them a fun, safe space to meet other siblings going through the same thing. Through games, play and conversation, your child can explore their feelings, build self-esteem, and learn tools to help them cope with change – all guided by Redkite’s social workers.

Sessions include activities like:

  • Games and puzzles
  • Drawing and creative activities
  • Group activities and open conversation
  • Active games – I Spy, virtual scavenger hunts, charades
  • Playing with toy animals and Play-Doh
  • Meditation and mindfulness exercises
  • And lots more!

These sessions are designed to support different aspects of your child’s mental health and wellbeing, including their feelings, self-esteem and resilience, while encouraging creativity and self-expression.

Call us on 1800 431 312, Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm (AEST), or email us anytime at [email protected]
